TL;DR

DepthLoot is a pixel-art, turn-based dungeon extraction game by ValiantLight. You pack a small grid backpack, go down into procedurally generated ruins, fight and loot room by room, and decide when to head for the exit. If you die, most of what you found stays down there. The browser version on this page is the developer's demo; the full game is coming to Steam.

What is DepthLoot?

A compact dungeon game about greed and risk. Every run you explore ruins tile by tile, and the deeper you go, the better the rewards and the bigger the danger. Loot only matters if you escape with it. Back at base you sell what you found, repair gear and upgrade your character before the next descent.

What does the game look like?

How does a run work?

  • Pack your backpack. Items have different shapes and sizes on a grid, so you choose between weapons, armor, food, potions, keys, tools and free space for loot.
  • Go down. Expeditions are generated fresh each time and played turn by turn.
  • Get out. Escape alive to keep your loot. Die, and most of it is lost.
  • Upgrade. Sell loot, repair equipment and improve health, stamina, backpack space, storage and abilities.

How do you start playing?

  • Press Play and wait for the main menu to load.
  • If you are new, open Tutorial first, then choose New Game.
  • If the menu does not react, click inside the game once and try again, or play it on the developer's itch.io page.

Can you play it on a phone?

No. On an iPhone the demo stops with "An error occurred running the Unity content on this page… EncodingError: Decoding failed" (tested Oct 20, 2026). Play it on a computer.

Is there a full version?

Yes. The demo is labeled "Demo build, features and content are subject to change". The full game is on Steam: DepthLoot (full game) on Steam.

Known issues

  • Phones: does not start (Unity decoding error on iPhone).
  • Tested on a desktop browser on Oct 20, 2026, demo version 0.261.
